Hradčany, the Castle District, is the district surrounding the Prague Castle. The castle is said to be the biggest castle in the world at about 570 meters in length and an average of about 130 meters wide. Its history stretches back to the 9th century.
Mighty St Vitus Cathedral is located in the castle area and it is the country's largest church, containing numerous side-chapels, frescoes and tombstones, not forgetting the nave's beautiful coloured stained glass windows created by famous Czech Art Nouveau artist, Alfons Mucha.
The name "Lesser Town", on the other hand, derives from its position on the left (west) bank of the Vltava river, on the slopes just below the Prague Castle, in opposition to the larger "towns" of Prague on the right bank, to which it is conjoined by the Charles Bridge.
I and E. walked up the Petřin hill and that was an extremely exhausting but at the same time in every way pleasant climb! Petřin (327 m) is a hill in the centre of Prague and it is almost entirely covered with parks, so it's a favourite recreational area for the inhabitants of Prague. The main sights we saw there were The Hunger Wall, Petřin funicular, Petřin Lookout Tower and Strahov Monastery. Strahov Monastery, by the way, is a Premonstratensian abbey founded in 1149.

When you're in Prague, do visit Krok Zpět restaurant & pub (Vyšehradská 31, Praha 2) because during our journey no other eatery could compete with Krok Zpět where we ate twice. While many of Prague's eateries add like 10 or 15% of so called tip money to your bill by themselves (which was not so polite though the amount of money wasn't actually big), Krok Zpět left an opportunity to do it voluntarily. Well, and simply look at my delicious dinner!
(In the evening) I was wearing: cardigan+belt - H&M; white knitwear - American Eagle Outfitters /thrifted/; top - New Look /thrifted/; skirt - Sheinside; bag - Guess; studded flats - Jeffrey Campbell.
